A structured antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) quality improvement initiative aimed at improving antibiotic prescribing practices, strengthening hospital AMS systems, and enhancing patient outcomes across Kenyan healthcare facilities.
Kenyan hospitals continue to face suboptimal antimicrobial prescribing practices, largely driven by weak stewardship systems and limited structured quality improvement frameworks.
Prior to this intervention, there was no standardized AMS training course for hospital teams, resulting in inconsistent prescribing behaviours and poor documentation of antibiotic use.
The DRIVE-AMS initiative was introduced to close this gap by equipping hospital teams with structured tools and methodologies for improving antimicrobial use through quality improvement cycles.
